          45-min lessons: $225 per month

+ A registration fee of $40 is due when signing up

Who are the Artist Music Academy directors?

Irene and Jarl Hulbert, Artist Music's founders and directors, have been working with students in Maryland for over twenty years each.  Because of their established record of student success, there is often a waiting list for students wanting to study with either of these successful teachers.  Not only do the Hulberts bring success to their students in the studio, but they also advise and work with both beginning and experienced music teachers.

What are the qualifications of Artist Music Academy's Directors?

Irene Hulbert has degrees in music performance from the University of Redlands (Bachelors) and University of California, Los Angeles (Masters).  She also studied toward a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Institute, and toward a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Maryland, College Park.  Irene has organized events for music students both with the Music Teachers Association of Baltimore County and with the National Federation of Music Clubs, and she works regularly with participants at the William Knabe International Piano Competition, for which she is also a board member.

Jarl Hulbert has degrees in music performance from the University of Redlands (Bachelors) and University of Arizona (Masters).  He also studied piano at the Vienna State Academy (Austria) as an Ambassadorial Scholar with Rotary International.  His doctorate degree (Ph.D.) is in historical musicology from the University of Maryland, College Park.  In addition to teaching at Artist Music's Academies, Jarl is on faculty at the Community College of Baltimore County and has taught music classes at the University of Maryland, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and West Chester University.  He also works with international music competitions, having served as coordinator for the world-famous William Kapell Competition and he is currently serving as president of the William Knabe Piano Institute.  Jarl is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (certified by the Music Teachers National Association).
